Japanese Cabinet Office have released September economic assessment
- Cut to the assessment citing weak consumption growth
- Cut overall economic assessment for the first time in 5 months
- Lowered view on consumption … “private consumption appears to be pausing.”
- Left in the phrase “Japan’s economy is on a moderate recovery”, but deleted the phrase which said that the fall-off in demand after the sales-tax increase was easing, indicating it sees the fall-off continuing, according to a cabinet office briefing
- Exports are flat
- Industrial output is in a weak trend
- Improvement in corporate profits appear to be pausing, with firms cautious in judgement on current business conditions
- Employment situation is improving steadily
