Japanese PM-to-be makes nice with Obama

All that anti-American campaign rhetoric? You know how that goes, right Barack?

That seems to be the message from putative Japanese Prime Minister Hatoyama in a phone call to US President Obama. The US-Jap alliance is the foundation of Japanese diplomacy, Hatoyama said while saying he will work closely with the US to improve each others economies.

Don’t watch what they say, watch what they do: Once in office, these guys almost always tinker at the margins rather than make sweeping changes, especially when it comes to super-power relations.
