Don't expect much action in the hours ahead

The North American economic calendar is bare today because of the Labo(u)r Day holidays in the United States and Canada.

It's one of the most-widely-taken holidays and nearly everything is closed -- including markets.

If you're around, it's a good time to catch up on what's happen in the charts and with central banks.

There is always the chance of some kind of shocking economic news that leads to a big market move so we'll be on the lookout. The main focus is on China after a 2.5% decline in the Shanghai Composite to start the week.

It's also a good time to look forward to the rest of the week with the BOC, BOE and RBNZ all on the docket.
