The Mexican Health Minister Jose Angel Cordova says 149 are dead in Mexico possibly related to swine flu. The minister expects the number of swine flu cases to increase. Schools in Mexico are to be closed until May 6th as part of measures to try and control the spread of the virus.

EUR/USD slips further as risk aversion gets ratcheted up another notch, presently at 1.3105. Sell-stops remain down at 1.3080/90.

Meanwhile the Mexican central bank said it has sold $138 mln in a second auction at an average rate of 13.7629 to support the peso.

The bank earlier in the day sold $162 mln at a rate of 13.7913 pesos.
