ROME (MNI) – Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti and German
Chancellor Angel Merkel agreed Saturday that Italy and Germany would
take “all necessary measures to protect the Eurozone,” the Italian
government said in a press release.

In a telephone conversation, the two leaders also agreed that the
decisions of the EU summit end-June “must be implemented without delay.”

Merkel invited Monti to meet in Berlin in the second half of August
and Monti “gratefully accepted the invitation,” the government said.
