More regional CPI releases in Germany ahead of the overall number later today - 29 Dec 2017
- Hesse CPI m/m +0.6% vs +0.4% prior
- Hesse CPI y/y +1.7% vs +2.0% prior
- Bavaria CPI m/m +0.5% vs +0.4% prior
- Bavaria CPI y/y +1.7% vs +1.8% prior
Some mixed numbers there, but follows a similar theme to the Saxony report earlier - whereby we see a better m/m reading but the y/y readings are slightly lower than prior reports.
Still no word on the Brandenburg release, hmm, I'm not sure if Bloomberg misreported the m/m which is somewhat similar to the Hesse one as it seems odd not to have the y/y reading but the m/m reading is out. Reuters is showing no release yet for Brandenburg.
But in general, the theme seems to be stronger m/m readings compared to prior numbers but slightly weaker y/y readings and that's likely to be the case as well for the overall German number due at 1300 GMT (expected y/y at +1.5% compared to prior of +1.8%).
Update: Yup, seems like the Brandenburg number from Bloomberg was misreported. I'll update Brandenburg on a separate post when it's out.
