Here is Bloomberg's summary piece on the NZ election outcome
It's a good run down of where we are at as of now. I had an earlier post here:
From Bloomberg:
- New Zealand Prime Minister Bill English has claimed a mandate to form the next government after winning the biggest slice of the vote (46%)
- opposition leader Jacinda Ardern refuses to concede defeat (35.8)
- English's ruling National Party fell short of a majority, will need the support of the nationalist New Zealand First Party to govern
- New Zealand First leader Winston Peters ... could support either side
- Negotiations could last several weeks
- "There's still an element of uncertainty overhanging the market, and markets never like uncertainty," said Jason Wong, a currency strategist at Bank of New Zealand in Wellington. "National and New Zealand First is probably the most market-friendly of any of the main permutations."

I posted earlier that English will have first shot at forming government. This is how it works in New Zealand. First shot is not a guarantee, of course.
