More RBNZ rate hike speculation - sooner rather than later

Expectations are rising for a much nearer-term Reserve Bank of New Zealand rate hike than previously.

ASB have already forecast a hike in a few months time:

• NZ bank ASB forecasts the RBNZ hiking its cash rate in November this year

ANZ are looking for a hike sooner also:

• ANZ in New Zealand are also calling for RBNZ rate hikes sooner

These calls come in response to the NZIER's survey published earlier:

• New Zealand QSBO for Q2 2021, business confidence headline 7% (vs. -13% prior)

From that QSBO, Reuters citing from the NZIER report:

• About 60% of financial services sector firms now expect interest rates to rise over the coming year
