Tokyo's main index closes lower on the day, still unable to find a way past 23,000

The Nikkei is the only major equity index in Asia that's bucking the trend today. All other indices are higher on the day as tech stocks mostly posted a rebound.

Though, in the Nikkei all sectors are down on the day as financials and energy stocks lead the way in terms of losses.

Elsewhere in Asia, the Kospi is up by 1.00%, Hang Seng index is up by 0.68%, and China's Shanghai Composite and CSI 300 indices are up by 0.85% and 0.73% respectively. Also, Australia's ASX 200 closed the day higher by 0.30% at 6,088.10 earlier today.
