Equities in Asia are faring poorly on the day, as the sentiment from US trading overnight spills over. The 4 A's released their earnings and were a bit mixed (Alibaba reported lower operating margins and Apple provided a downbeat forecast while Amazon reported its strongest holiday quarter in 8 years).
But earnings in Japan were the ones that caused a hit in the Nikkei as ANA and Nomura both reported poor results that saw their respective shares tumble.
And we also have yields continuing to break higher, with US 10-year yields at 2.79% - which once again prompts talks of portfolio reallocation.
Not really a good day for equities in general to say the least. Here's how the rest of the Asian markets are doing:
- Hang Seng +0.04%
- Shanghai Composite -0.32%
- Kospi -1.72%
- CSI 300 -0.09%
- ASX 200 +0.51% (closes at 6,121.39)
- Taiex -0.30%
