The sales tax panel is meeting in Japan each day this week, discussing the proposed hike in the sales tax, alternatives, and other tax break options to ‘offset’ the hike. The proposal for a capex tax break is one of the ‘offset’ ideas. The sales tax change has been a hot topic in Japan for the last 6 weeks or so.
