OPEC production in August fell by 140,000 barrels per day from a month earlier, to 31.26 million barrels per day, according to Platts.

It's the first decline in six months but still 1.26 million barrels per day above OPEC's 'ceiling'.

WTI finished 17-cents lower in US trading at $45.87.
