Germany is mulling over making coronavirus tests for returning travelers mandatory as virus infections pick up

Germany reported 633 new virus cases and another 4 deaths today, with RKI estimating that the 4-day virus reproduction rate to be at 1.28 - still above the 1.00 threshold.

State governments have agreed to offer free coronavirus tests to all returning travelers into the country from the summer break, but are now mulling over whether or not they can make the tests mandatory to try and curb any potential community transmissions.

Although the government has maintained that the recent outbreaks are localised and under control, there are infections spreading in pretty much every state:

For now, this isn't much of a factor as plans to reopen the economy will continue but just be mindful in case the number starts picking up once again over the coming weeks.
