Rumour China preparing to cut rates

There is a rumour doing the rounds that China is preparing to cut interest rates. They last cut December 22, from 5.58 to 5.31.

No amount is being mentioned, but one source opined it could be another 27 bps.

It’s pure speculation at this juncture, but worth noting.

A cut could well have the effect of bolstering risk sentiment.
