Corker wants to see a trigger if deficits start to balloon

Tennessee Republican Bob Corker says he could vote against tax bill in budget committee. He is concerned about the potential for the deficit ballooning if the revenue projections are not reached. As a result, he would like a automatic "trigger" that would raise tax rates after a period of years if revenues fall short.

Corker adds:

• no vote is not a threat; Republicans are working to resolve the issue
• he wants tax bill to have triggered to raise revenues if economic growth expectations are not met

James Lankford, Republican of Oklahoma, said on Monday that he is in talks to insert a provision that would trigger tax increases - as yet unspecified - after a period of years if federal revenues fall short of lawmakers' projections.
