Steinbrueck: German finances must lend credibility to euro

German Finance Minister Peer Steinbrueck feels Germany must maintain solid finances to underpin the stability of the euro.

Speaking in the Bundestag lower house of parliament Steinbrueck said “We must give the financial markets a signal that Germany is taking a responsible approach towards its budget” adding “As Germany we must see that the stability of the euro is not called into question by how we behave with our budget.”

EUR/USD meanwhile continues to trade close to 1.4000, presently at 1.4005.
