Brussels (MNI)– Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeld said that
a comprehensive deal to address the Eurozone debt crisis might not be
completed at Wednesday’s summit meeting here.
Arriving for talks almong the 27 European Union member states,
Reinfeld said that different parts of the rescue package “may not be
ready and therefore this could take a longer time.”
In particular, Reinfeld said it would be difficult to conclude a
deal to recapitalize European banks without knowing the results of the
bank negotiations to writedown the value of their Greek bonds.
He said he did not know the current status of the talks.
“There are great assets that will be lost and that we need to take
care of,” he said. “And so it’s better that we run (details) through
thoroughly rather than doing it quickly.”
