A sizable miss relative to expectations there and an even bigger drop if compared to August. Of note, production and order book levels declined the most with the latter falling from 67.6 in August to 55.8 in September. According to Markit, the current "mini boom" in Swiss manufacturing will be coming to an end and looks to be making way for a more "normal" economic pace again.
Although this is the lowest reading since May 2017, it's still relatively solid when compared to historical readings.
