Tesco sales in the third quarter, excluding petrol, climbed 2% at stores open for at least a year in the UK. The 2% growth is the poorest performance for Tesco in the UK since 1992-1993, and is a significant slowdown from the 4% growth seen in the second quarter. The world’s third largest retailer has been losing market share, as consumers turn to discount stores such as Audi and Lidl as they scale back spending.
