PARIS (MNI) – The following is the text of the overview of the
Bank of France’s November monthly business survey:
The business sentiment indicator in industry* stood at 107 in
November, after 104 in October.
The business sentiment indicator in services* stood at 98 in
November, after 96 in October.
According to the monthly index of business activity (MIBA), GDP is
expected to increase by 0.6 % in the fourth quarter of 2010 (second
estimate, revised upwards by 0.1 percentage point).
* Calculations are based on survey data smoothed over three months.
SUMMARY
In November, industrial activity firmed overall.
The capacity utilisation rate rose significantly, while remaining
below its long-term average.
Order books expanded as a result of a strong increase in orders and
were deemed to be at higher than normal levels.
Inventories of final goods remained in line with expected levels.
Forecasts point to further growth in output over the short term.
Activity in services strengthened across the board and especially
in the temporary work sector.
Prices remained stable. Staff levels posted a further significant
rise.
The outlook for activity over the coming months points to ongoing
growth.
