An auto bailout deal could be announced as early as today. UPDATE: Bush to make announcement at 9:00am EST.

Another top story is the downgrade of twelve big banks, one for each day of Christmas, by S&P. This may prompt some risk aversion today.

One last thme that is near and dear to my heart: the continued collapse in oil prices.
