After soft Q2 earnings, Family Dollar announced it will close 370 stores and lower prices on nearly 1,000 basic items. The company also promised job cuts. Executives said bad weather was responsible for a portion of its miss on earnings but not all of it.
It’s the start of earnings season and results like this will make the market jittery and they’re another reason that inflationary fears are misplaced.
