Trump nominates Marvin Goodfriend to be Fed Governor

• Goodfriend is nominated for a term of 14 years from Feb 1, 2016 (assuming confirmation).

• Goodfriend is a professor at Carnigie Mellon University

• Was former director of research at the Richmond Fed

• Serves on the Shadow Open Market Committee, an independent panel of economists, aimed at "alternative views" on monetary policy

• In testimony before a congressional subcommittee in March 2017, Goodfriend spoke of "the Fed's failure to secure the credibility of its inflation target". He also spoke of the risks that posed for future policy and the economy.
