Today UK fin min Hammond presents the latest UK Budget speech 22 Nov
Hammond will stand up in parliament around 12.30 GMT after PM Questions.
UK Budget speeches are rarely FX price movers and this one will be no different in essence. Hammond has to please the general public as well as his own party with little in the pot to give much away. He has promised however to set out how he sees post-Brexit Britain so that will be interesting to hear and see how close he gets to revealing anything of note. Unlikely though to be honest.
What he will deliver that may be of more interest are the latest UK forecasts from the OBR, a supposedly independent research group. The algos may jump around on these so be ready. Once delivered the OBR will publish them here
Soundbites in the speech released so far include his vision for the UK after Brexit as a "prosperous and inclusive economy" which harnesses the power of technological change and innovation to be a "force for good in the world". Yada yada.
Asked on Sunday whether this would be a bold or boring Budget, he settled for describing it as "balanced".
I expect the same of GBP overall.
