–Cameron Sees Good Case For Maintaining EU Leadership At IMF
LONDON (MNI) – UK Prime Minister David Cameron said today that he
thought French Finance Minister Christine Lagarde is an outstanding
candidate for the role of managing director of the International
Monetary Fund.
“The one thing that everybody says is that she is clearly a very
strong candidate, that she has what it takes in terms of political
leadership, experience and respect as a finance minister, not just in
Europe but more widely,” Cameron told a post G8 summit press conference.
“I would say very strong support for her candidature from a range
of different conversations that I have had,” he continued.
“As you know we strongly support her, we think there is a good case
for maintaining European leadership at this time. We think she is an
outstanding candidate.”
