UK DATA: NIESR: UK Mar-May GDP Estimated Up 0.4%; Growth Below Trend>}
————————————————————————
The UK’s growth rate in the three months through May picked up, after
the hit on output from the Royal Wedding Bank
Holiday in April, according to the National Institute of Economic and
Social Research data. NIESR said growth in the three months through May
rose to 0.4% from just 0.1% in the three months through April.
April output is likely to have been hit by the extra Royal Wedding
Bank Holiday, on April 29, which gave employees the chance to book an
extended break as it offered a link between the Easter Bank Holidays on
April 22 and the May 2 Bank Holiday.
