Specific piece of legislation to implement Brexit
Brexit Secretary David Davis has told Parliament that:
- Once there is a Brexit deal, there will be a specific piece of legislation to implement it
- He stresses that "we will have a meaningful vote" meaning lawmakers will be able to go through it line by line.
- Solid progress has been made on question of Ireland and Northern Irish border, and both sides remain firmly committed to avoiding a hard border.
- If lawmakers reject Brexit, UK leaves anyway.
- Davis added if there is no agreement then he can't bring it before the House of Commons.
- Probable sequencing is Brexit deal by October 2019
