–Three New Polls Show LibDems Hanging On To 2nd Place
–Labour Continues To Languish In Third Place

LONDON (MNI), April 27 – Three new opinion polls out today have
confirmed the recent pattern of a marginal Conservatiove lead, with the
LibDems overtaking Labour to take second place and Labour continuing to
languish in third.

A ComRes poll for ITV News shows the Conservatives on 32%, Lib Dems
on 31% and Labour on 28%. Guardian/ICM puts the Tories on 33%, Lib Dems
on 30% and Labour on 28% and a Sun/YouGov poll puts the Tories on 33%,
Lib Dems on 29% and Labour on 28%.

These results,l assuming a Unifor Nationa Swing, would produce a
hung parliament and could still give Labour the most number of seats of
any single party in a new parliament, although not with an overall
majority.

The latest poll results follow comments from Conservative Party
Finance Spokesman George Osborne Monday who warned that
economomic/fiscal policy making could be paralysed by a ‘hung’
parliament and has even warned that sterling would suffer too.

LibDem Leader Nick Clegg has suggested that he would be willing to
work with the party which emerges from the election with a mandate to
govern, but has also made clear he would be unwilling to keep Labour
leader Gordon Brown in office if the party were to clearly lose the
popular vote.

However, he has said he would be prepared to deal with the Labour
Party or even “the Man in the Moon.”

The LDs would make reform of the current first-past-the-post voting
system a key bargaining chip in any negotiations to form a coalition
government after the May 6 election.

right hand column showing the Conservatives’ lead over Labour. The
average is for national polls only.
