–UK Oct House Prices Up 0.3% m/m; Up 6.1% On Year
LONDON (MNI) – House prices in England and Wales posted their sixth
consecutive monthly rise in October, climbing 0.3% to stand up 6.1% on
the year, according to the latest LSL/Acadametrics report.
UK housing surveys for October have come up with divergent results,
with Halifax reporting a 1.8% rise on the month and Nationwide a 0.7%
fall.
The average price in the LSL/Acadametrics survey in October was
stg224,709, down stg7,119, or 3.1%, from the February 2008 peak.
“Over the last six months, we have witnessed relatively modest
changes in house prices with the average price rising by just 1.6%,”
Peter Williams, Chairman of Acadametrics, said.
The survey found transaction volumes have fallen, with potential
buyers hit by tighter mortgage conditions.
