Latest data released by Halifax - 5 April 2019
- Prior +5.9%; revised to +6.0%
- House prices +2.6% vs +2.1% 3m/y expected*
- Prior +2.8%
Slight delay in the release by the source. The monthly change may have shown a decline but this has been a good Q1 for house prices with the quarterly change being an increase of 1.6%. The average price for a dwelling sits at £233,181. Halifax notes that "the combined effect of fewer houses for sale and fewer people looking to buy is helping to support prices in the long-term".
But they also warn of subdued price growth for the time being in light of Brexit uncertainty still very much prevailing in the UK economy.
