That's a massive miss and one which once again highlights the renewed downturn in the UK manufacturing sector after Brexit stockpiling helped to belie underlying sentiment at the start of this year. Of note, new export orders fell to 46.2 in May from 48.1 in April and that's the lowest reading since October 2014. The headline reading is the weakest since July 2016.
