–Says Will Freeze It For Remainder Of Year
LONDON (MNI) – UK Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne said
today that he would halt any rise in fuel duty this August and freeze
duty for the remainder of the year.
“We will now stop any rise in fuel duty this August and freeze it
for the rest of the year,” Osborne told the House of Commons today.
Osborne said the move would be fiscally neutral, being payed for
out of lower departmental spending.
The step is the latest in a series of measures announced by the
government and the Bank of England to protect the UK economy from the
impact of the euro zone crisis.
