–Adds Survey Results Showing Doubts About Schaeuble Are Growing

BERLIN (MNI) – German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble will
return to work next Monday, a ministry spokesman said Tuesday.

The 67-year-old minister was taken to a hospital in Brussels on
Sunday after experiencing problems with new medication.

Ministry spokesman Michael Offer explained that Chancellor Angela
Merkel had proposed to Schaeuble that he rest some more days. Merkel
still has “full confidence” in Schaeuble, he added. “A resignation [of
Schaeuble] is not a topic at all,” the spokesman stressed.

Meanwhile, a survey released today showed that doubts in the
population about Schaeuble’s ability to head the Finance Ministry are
rising.

In a survey conducted by pollsters Emnid for German N24 television,
46% said they did not believe that Schaeuble will be up to the job while
43% said they had no doubt he is still fit enough to be minister.

The survey was conducted on Monday amongst around 1,000
respondents, N24 said.
