US DATA: Aug durable goods orders -13.2%, significantly below the
-4.5% expected and the largest decline since Jan’09 when durable goods
orders -14.3%, with widespread declines. July durable goods orders were
revised down to +3.3% from the prev reported +4.1%. Transportation
orders -34.9%, durables excluding transportation new orders -1.6%.
Nondefense aircraft orders -101.8%, motor vehicles orders -10.9%,
defense aircraft orders -8.1%, nondefense capital goods -24.3% and
nondefense capital goods excluding aircrafts, +1.1%. Electical equip
was +3.8%. Shipments -3.0%, inventories +0.6%, unfilled orders -1.7%.
Analysts anticipated a drop in durable goods after Boeing reported much
weaker orders August and some pull back from Autos.
