was the risk because weekly surveys were gaining). Expectations 83.7
vs 71.1, Present Situation 50.2 vs 46.5. Conf Bd notes better optimism
about the jobs mkt and biz conditions. Jobs Plentiful 8.3 vs 7.2; Jobs
Hard to Get 39.9 vs 40.6. Those expecting more jobs ahead 18.5 vs 15.8,
and Those expecting better incomes 16.3 vs 16.0. Buying plans gained for
vacations, autos and appliances; for homes edged down to 5.0 vs 5.5.
Expected 1y inflation 5.8% vs 6.0%. Improvement was across age groups
but by Income the $35k-50k sector dropped. Atlantic area lagged but all
regions rose except East So Central.
