US DATA: wk 16-Jun Redbook: “Business recovered in the third week
of June, but not as much as hoped for. Father’s Day promotions brought
people into stores and drove up traffic producing positive spill over
business in other areas. For the week, sales of men’s apparel, tools and
other typical gift categories were brisk as expected. With warmer
weather across much of the country, sales of seasonal merchandise such
as swimwear, fans and air conditioners as well as patio furniture
continued to improve.”
