May US trade balance
- Prior was -$50.8 billion (revised to -$51.2B)
- US exports +2.0%
- Imports +3.3%
- Goods -$76.14B
- Services +$20.62B
- US China May deficit $30.2B vs $26.9B prior
This is a small disappointment and will put a negative slant on Q2 GDP trackers, but only a small one. As you can see from the chart, the trade war isn't going well despite increasing US energy independence.
The good news is that there is a surplus because the US is doing better than most other economies.
