S&P 500 breaks eight-day winning streak
US stocks closed right about where they opened. The index finished down 17 points to 2878. Midway through the day the losses were trimmed to 2886 but selling ramped up late and the index hit a session low of 2873 in the final minutes of trading before a quick 5-point pop into the close.
