The Bank for International Settlements published its 87th BIS Annual Report over the weekend

The full link is there, above. But here is Reuters with some highlights:

  • one of its most upbeat annual reports for years
  • Global growth could soon be back at long-term average levels after a sharp improvement in sentiment over the past year
  • Pockets of risk remain because of high debt levels, low productivity growth and dwindling policy firepower
  • Says policymakers should take advantage of the improving economic outlook and its surprisingly negligible effect on inflation to accelerate the "great unwinding" of quantitative easing programs and record low interest rates.

I'll have more in a separate post on what the BIS says about Australia (Its not all beer and BBQs: high debt levels raise the risk of potential weakness in consumption and, in some cases, investment)
