I usually refer to this as the Asian timezone, but maybe APac ins better

Does APac stand for Australia-Pacific or Asia-Pacific, though? You know where my vote would be, but then again I am biased :-D

I digress.

Not a lot on the economic data and central bank front to expect for Asia today.

From the Reserve Bank of New Zealand, Deputy Governor Grant Spencer will speak (at a private event ... if you're invited let us know!) about the Bank's view of the property market. Text of the speech will be published at 0130GMT.

The RBNZ are introducing stricter macroprudential controls (loan ratios and the like) to combat steeply rising house prices, most specifically in the Auckland market. These are instead of higher interest rates, which would impact on the economy as well as the NZ nationwide housing market. The Bank is trying to target the specific market in Auckland. Whether or not that is advisable is open to debate ... but there it is, that's what they're trying.

From Japan, due much later at 0500GMT ... Leading and Coincident indexes for June (final).

And that's it.
