All good things must come to an end
One day we're going to get a negative NFP as sure as the sun comes up everyday. The "fuller" Us employment gets, the closer that day will come. This is still the longest positive run in the history of the report.
US non-farm payrolls through the ages
That won't necessarily be a bad thing as it will mean the US jobs market is in a good place. As long as we don't start seeing a collapse in the month to month numbers it will all be tickety-boo. However, when that first negative print happens it's going to shock the market and we'll have a fun trading day out of it.
As you know it's all a lottery and the focus for a while has been on the inflationary gauges like wages. Don't ever rule out the headline number having a big impact on the dollar though. Who knows what today's number will be? We might see a very strong bounce back, we might see it worse. The buck will calm if it's a good number, as that will mean March was a one off. If it's around the same or lower, then we could see the dollar getting nervy again.
Let's hope its a good one for trading's sake and I hope you all stay safe over it and bank loads of pips.
I'm off now as I've taken a half day, so trade well and have a great weekend.
