Australian union movement seeking an increase to the national minimum wage citing high CPI

The Australian Council of Trade Unions is seeking to boost workers’ wages by 5.5%.

This is the ACTU recommendation to the Fair Work Commission for a lift in the minimum wage.

Higher wage growth is sought by the Reserve Bank of Australia. The lack of it was often cited by the Bank as the reason they were not raising the cash rate. The RBA did raise the rate last week.
