The official and private PMIs use different surveys. The official figures are more heavily weighted towards larger and state-owned enterprises.

The official manufacturing PMI out earlier inched into expansion while this one stayed in contraction. We get the Caixin services PMI at a later date, the official services PMI out earlier dropped to a 4 month low, albeit still in expansion territory.
