Indonesia has announced another commodity export ban - Bauxite ore exports ban from June

This from the start of this year:

  • Indonesia has banned coal exports in January (biggest customers includes China)

It was dialled back quickly:

  • Indonesia has eased its coal export ban, has allowed 37 coal vessels to depart

This time Indonesia will halt the export of bauxite ore. Its doing so from June 2023. The Indonesian President says its doing so in order to encourage the development of onshore bauxite processing.
