Tokyo will raise its Alert to the second-highest level

Earlier from Japan re coronavirus response:

  • Osaka prefecture reports 1.7K new COVID-19 cases (this from Wednesday Japan time)
  • Okinawa, Hiroshima and Yamaguchi prefectures entered a quasi-state of emergency on Sunday
