S&P and Nasdaq higher on the day
The World Health Organization did not declare an international virus alarm: that seems to have helped sentiment in the stock market.
The broader indices (S&P and NASDAQ) are trading at session highs and back in the black. The snapshot currently shows:
- S&P index up 1.7 points or 0.05% at 3323.45. The high just extended to 3324.19. The low reached 3301.87
- The NASDAQ index is up 13.66 points or 0.15% at 9397.41. The high reached 9399.547. The low extended to 9334.129
- The Dow is still down on the day. It is down -28.8 points or -0.10% at 29158.68. The high reached 29170.51. The low extended to 28966.98
After the close the big earnings release will come from Intel.
Analysts are expecting that the company will report fourth-quarter adjusted earnings of $1.25 per share on $19.2 billion of revenue.
Investors will likely look for updates on its recent chip manufacturing problems.
Since the last earnings report, Intel shares were up around 16%.
