Above 5342.87 is a new record
The Nasdaq composite index moved above the 5342.87 on it's way to a high of 5346.802. That was good enough for a record high as it took at the Sept 22, 2016 high.
We are now trading at 5340.41. So the record has been short but sweet (so far at least), but it still is a new all time record.
Why back when... in March 2000, the Nasdaq traded above 5000 for the 1st time. That was a bubble. Anything that was tech, was insanely overpriced. The index fell all the way to a low of 1108 in October 2002.
It took until June of 2015 to get back above that 2000 high and it has been above and below by a little bit since then. Today is another little move to a new high....
