The USD is mixed in early NA trading
As North American traders enter for the day, the CHF is the strongest of the majors while the GBP is the weakest. The USD is mixed with gains vs. the GBP and AUD (and small gains vs the JPY and NZD). The greenback is weaker verse the CHF and CAD (and near unchanged vs the EUR).
The ranges and changes show traders are selling the GBPUSD and GBP currency pairs. They are all near the day extremes (GBP weakness). The USDJPY is barely moved with only a 13 pip trading range for the day (is that right? Yikes).
In other markets:
- Spot gold is up $3 or 0.16% at $1874.35. Silver today is down $0.35 or -1.53% at $22.64. Yesterday silver roared over 7.5% on the day, outpacing the gains in gold.
- WTI crude oil futures are trading down $0.25 -0.6% at $41.65. It is currently trading at the lows for the day. The high price reached $42.36
In the premarket for US stocks, the major indices are modestly higher:
- Dow Jones is up 48 points
- S&P index is up 4 points
- NASDAQ index is up 1 point
in the European equity markets major indices are mostly higher:
- German DAX +0.27%
- France's CAC, +0.5%
- UK's FTSE 100, +0.68%
- Spain's Ibex, +0.3%
- Italy's FTSE MIB, -0.13%
In the US debt market, yields are down up to 1.5 basis points. The yield curve is marginally flatter:
