Continued strong US capital flows into the US as of the December data. The prior month showed inflows of $85.1. The important stat to remember is that as long as the inflows cover the US currency account deficit, there is no immediate economic danger (all else being equal…)

Official capital outflows were $45.1 bln while private inflows were $93.3 bln. I’m not sure what to make of this.

There has been so much talk over the years that China has been buying Treasuries through London, so the holding shows up in the UK column and in the private rather than official sector. The UK holds $541 bln in Treasuries to China’s $892 bln. I have no firm evidence to back that up, however.
