Lessons from the trading titan

Paul Tudor Jones is notoriously shy about media exposure and has gone to great lengths to remove videos of himself, especially one showing his trades around the 1987 crash. He is one of the richest people alive and has made billions trading.

This 1980s documentary where he talks about his trades and trading appeared a few weeks ago but it’s destined not to last long.

Some of the takeaways

  1. How he evaluates the market in relation to the news . The newspapers are negative but the market won’t go down and he takes that as a bullish signal.
  2. How he dusts himself off after a bad day and then crushes the market
  3. How he manages his emotions as he trades. He doesn’t try to control them or fight them which is something that can lead to bad or spiteful trading. Instead, he talks about them, feels them and works through them.
